A Mobile Catering Concept Comes To Life With Street Food Vibes

Hull University were looking for two mobile catering units they could bring on campus that had the versatility to cater to a wide array of tastes. They wanted to compete with local food offerings and provide their students with high-quality barista coffee, which they didn’t currently have onsite. As well as this, they were looking for units where they could prepare and serve food on big sporting calendar days. Street Food Vibes was created which includes The Pod, Citroen H van, alongside two modular counters.

What we did

After discussions with Head of Catering at Hull University, we knew they needed two vehicles which had different offerings but we’re joined together by the same branding. We proposed both the Citroen H van, The Pod, and two versatile modular counters.

Citroen H Van

We advised for their catering option, the Citroen H van would help to provide them with the space they needed to cook a variety of different food options and of course room for fryers and meal preparations. It was also important they had the ability for two people to work inside the vehicle. The Citreon H van is already an iconic vehicle choice, we made it stand out even more by adding a stunning teal blue paint job.

The Pod

For the barista coffee option, they required something that was lightweight and compact, with the ability to serve great coffee to their customers. We customised this vehicle to a bright orange spec, with their Street Food Vibes logo on, to make sure it stands out when on campus and during sports events.

Modular units

The University regularly host televised sports events on the BBC and SkySports where they are obliged to serve hot food and drinks to ensure they can have these events on-site. Previously, they would have to prepare catering in their kitchen, which isn’t based in the Sports Centre, and bring it across.

These modular counters can now be rolled into place to serve vast amounts of food and barista coffee to large crowds. To make these units versatile, we have provided an array of equipment so they can easily swap and change catering equipment to suit what is required.

On our first opening day,we served over 500 customers, making over £2500!
